Why is living in the present important?

The present makes us exist in a certain place. Sometimes we underestimate the present. Yet everything we do in the present will be our personal legacy. Living in the present allows you to build an entire world that will later become your legacy.

Living in the present means being aware of every situation and finding our eternity in every unique moment. Naive people spend their time looking at other places while standing on an island full of life opportunities. However, there are no other places… There is no other life that this one life.

The present is fleeting. When we think intensely about an unknown future or our worrying past, the present can slip through our fingers.

Forever consists of “nows”

We may find it difficult to understand the physical dimension of time. However, the truth is that life is now. After all, there has never been a moment when your life was not now.

The present is so transient that this line you just read is already part of your past. On the other hand, the future is what you project when you think about what you will do over the weekend instead of focusing your whole being on reading what’s in front of you. The present moment is the only time we can change with our actions and our decisions.

Sometimes we put a lot of energy into thinking about the past or the future. We don’t realize how quickly the present moment actually flies by. So it’s important that we pause for a second and think about the number of times we’ve prevented ourselves from living in the present just out of fear of the future or of memories from the past.

Live in the present and be thankful for everything

If our happiness at the moment consists mainly of memories and expectations, then we will only be vaguely aware of the present. If we do this often, we will not be able to be fully aware of what is happening around us.

That stops us from enjoying the little things and experiencing them fully. Break the habit of constantly looking back and forward. After all, this will be a great help if we want to enjoy our present reality.

Just focusing on the future or the past can jeopardize our present to such an extent that we begin to wonder if we’re actually living in the real world or if it’s all a fantasy. The present moment does not last a lifetime. Today seems like an eternity. Tomorrow, however, it will no longer exist.

Living in the present takes practice

It may seem easy to keep ourselves present in our reality. However, it takes practice. The reason is that we are used to giving free rein to thoughts that are not part of our reality.

Living in the present gives us the opportunity to learn from the many events that happen in our daily lives. You may think you  have  pays sufficient attention to your reality. However, all you do is think about the consequences of your past actions or how terrifying the future is.

It’s okay for a past event to upset you. However, why do you remain angry over something that no longer exists? Stay present and be thankful for your present reality.

The secret to a healthy mind and body is to live in the present instead of complaining about the past or worrying about the problems the future may bring.
